Il 6 giugno 1962 i Beatles eseguono per la prima volta Love me do negli studi di Abbey Road. George Martin, responsabile dell'etichetta Parlophone, ha organizzato il provino e, dopo qualche settimana, propone al gruppo di firmare un contratto discografico. Da questo brano ormai mitico all'ultimo singolo inglese, Let it be, uscito nel marzo del 1970, poco prima dello scioglimento del gruppo, i Beatles registrano 13 album componendo oltre 200 canzoni.
