Sono tempi duri per Mickey Haller. La crisi picchia sodo e, nonostante i crimini non siano diminuiti, pare che nessuno, nemmeno i delinquenti più incalliti, possa più permettersi un avvocato. Sembra che la gente, infatti, oltre a non avere i soldi per pagare un avvocato, non abbia neanche quelli per restituire le rate del mutuo contratto con le banche per l'acquisto della casa. Quello di Lisa Trammel è il primo caso di cui Mickey Haller si occupa e anche se finora è riuscito a evitare che la banca le sequestri la casa, lo stress e la sensazione di aver subito un'ingiustizia l'hanno profondamente segnata. Comunque Lisa non è una donna facile. Combattiva, ficcanaso, è stata persino diffidata dall'avvicinarsi all'istituto di credito che minaccia di lasciarla senza un tetto sopra la testa. Le cose si complicano, e di molto, quando viene accusata di aver ucciso Mitchell Bondurant, il dirigente che segue la sua pratica. Per Mickey significa tornare a quello che ha sempre fatto, cioè occuparsi di diritto penale, ma se pensava che difendere Lisa fosse una passeggiata, si sbagliava di grosso. Non solo scoprirà delle verità sconvolgenti sulla sua cliente, ma, al momento del verdetto, prenderà delle decisioni che capovolgeranno radicalmente la sua vita.

Good series! a more dramatic storyline..lots of courtroom antics plus lawyer stuff then it ended with a plot twist..well written (paperback!)
I actually am a trial lawyer specializing in homicide cases.
