Franco Nembrini, da anni, tiene per tutta l'Italia un ciclo di lezioni su Dante e la Commedia. Alla fine di uno di questi incontri, a Roma, Nembrini è stato avvicinato da un ragazzo che gli ha detto che le sue parole gli avevano cambiato la vita. Questo ragazzo era Gabriele Dell'Otto, uno dei più importanti disegnatori del mondo, artista di punta delle due grandi casi editrici americane di supereroi, Marvel e DC. È nato così un progetto che è anche un sogno. Rivestire la Divina Commedia per portarla al grande pubblico, nel millennio che è appena iniziato. Dopo l'introduzione di Alessandro D'Avenia, ogni canto ha un'introduzione alla lettura scritta da Nembrini, il testo originale di Dante e, a fronte, una parafrasi in italiano contemporaneo, e una riproduzione delle tavole di Gabriele Dell'Otto che illustrano il contenuto del canto. Un grande progetto, che continuerà, ovviamente, con Purgatorio e Paradiso.
