Sinossi

“Jim knew that he was awake and asleep at the same time, dreaming of the war and yet dreamed of by the war.” JG Ballard's Empire of the Sun is a compelling and engaging novel written from the perspective of a boy held prisoner by the Japanese during WWII. Re-Read 8/2/23 I don't know what it is about this novel that lets me positively want to re-read it. On the surface, it's utterly tragic and devastating.
