Le venti giornate di Torino erano iniziate il 3 luglio di dieci anni prima: la siccità, l'insonnia collettiva, i cittadini che vagavano come fantasmi per le strade del centro storico, le grida misteriose, le statue che sembravano aver preso vita, e soprattutto una orribile catena di omicidi. Poi, dopo venti giorni, tutto era finito, all'improvviso, come era cominciato. E nessuno aveva più voluto parlare di quella storia. Dieci anni dopo, un anonimo investigatore dilettante decide di indagare per scrivere un libro su quella vicenda. Perché l'insonnia di massa? E chi erano, e da dove venivano, le mostruose figure di cui troppe testimonianze raccontano? E soprattutto, che nesso c'era tra quanto accadde e la biblioteca che era stata aperta presso la Piccola casa della divina provvidenza? Una biblioteca assai strana, dove non si trovavano i testi pubblicati dagli editori, ma scritti di privati cittadini, che rivelavano i loro pensieri più intimi e profondi, molto spesso terribili, e li mettevano in condivisione con altri cittadini come loro. Non passerà molto prima che il protagonista si renda conto che quella orribile stagione si è conclusa solo in apparenza, e che le forze oscure che avevano scatenato quei drammatici giorni di violenza cieca sono ancora presenti e vigili.

This may seem like an unfair review but I can only give this 3 stars because I didn’t exactly understand it. I think that’s mainly because I’m a little slow to the mark sometimes and because I read this in a distracting environment, but this disappointed me and didn’t scare me like I hoped it would.
