This was an enjoyable read. I think I liked it in part because it was short, 153 pages. The plot was sufficient to keep me engaged…I think if it had been twice as long, I would have been mightily bored. This was a very fast moving 'Maigret' novel. A lot happens early on and there are some genuine surprises along the way.
