Eh. Couldn’t finish. Rambling stories of growing up with and witnessing violent physical abuse but all just “that’s how it is in Texas and then I was voted prom king and got the girls”. I read the actual book- not this journal but don’t know how to amend my review. Enjoyable book. Loved hearing MM stories as told in his Texan twang. Good life lessons/bumper stickers throughout.

An amazing and inspiring book!!

2 stars for matthew bc he has a great voice but this was so wordy. I feel like I was interested maybe 20% of the time and the rest I was just speeding through. Not my fav, kinda glad it’s over now.

I could not. I tried listening to the audiobook and I absolutely do not see the draw. I can’t. Even though he claims not to be preaching, it feels too preachy. Too self help-y. Maybe I didn’t get far enough into the book. But I just can’t. Not for me.

moral of this book: aha look at these silly little anecdotes which totally aren’t trauma because we’re just feeling a little texan

Audiobook - Really enjoyed listening to Matthew tell his story. Lots of good stuff!
