Il volume presenta tutte le opere del grande filosofo, a eccezione della "Grammatica ebraica", ritenuta dai più intraducibile. Scritti talvolta in olandese ma soprattutto in latino, i suoi trattati rappresentano uno dei caposaldi della filosofia occidentale: oltre all"'Etica" i lettori potranno così leggere, ciascuno con un'esaustiva introduzione e ricche note, il "Breve trattato", il "Trattato sull'emendazione dell'intelletto", i "Principi della filosofia di Cartesio" con l'appendice delle "Riflessioni metafisiche", il "Trattato teolofico-politico" e il "Trattato politico". Di tutti i testi si danno nuove traduzioni, condotte con assoluta coerenza terminologica. Completano il volume le "Lettere" che, suddivise per corrispondenti, contribuiscono a mettere in rilievo discussioni connesse alla genesi di specifiche opere.

Spinoza, I must sadly confess, has turned out to be a partial disappointment. This may be down to a simple inability to understand him, or the caution with which he necessarily wrote, and I will certainly have to re-read this in a year or two after some time for digestion, but I suspect that it has
