Le recensioni online riguardo questa raccolta non si sbilanciano verso nessuna parte, sono tutte o assolutamente positive o, al contrario, completamente negative, e questa cosa mi ha completamente destabilizzata. Questa raccolta di poesie è suddivisa in quattro parti, quattro fasi che tutti quanti abbiamo vissuto minimo una volta nella vita. Nonostante l'autrice sia stata molto criticata per via della scelta di utilizzare "nuova poesia", ci sono alcuni versi che potrei definire come pura verità, perché con questa raccolta di poesie, Rupi Kaur dà voce e forma a quelli che sono i pensieri di moltissime persone.
