IF VERA BROSGOL DOESN'T HAVE THE CUTESTBEST ART STYLE IN THE WORLD, I SURE DO NOT KNOW WHO DOES. that's pretty much the standout part of this book in either direction. it's a classic indoors-kid-goes-to-camp-and-hates-it-and-everything-is-terrible-but-then-she-likes-it-because-she-makes-a-friend-just Leggi tutto
Summer Camp, Russian Culture, and Belonging Having adored Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol, I was keen on checking out her spin with this gripping and hilarious middle-grade summer camp memoir. But it’s not all bad and yadda yadda yadda, learning important lessons, etc. In her afterword she talks about condensing two su Leggi tutto
A girl trying to fit in among her American friends who, by the way, do not even try. Annoying kids. But I do feel it's relatable when we are that age. Quite annoying. Exactly. I wish there was better development of the story and the characters towards the second half. However, I still feel it's worth Leggi tutto
I really enjoyed this semi autobiographical graphic novel, much more than I thought I would. The inside drawings are not coloured like the cover and didn't instantly win me over, although I do like the black, white and olive green and do appreciate how much work goes into a graphic novel. I thought
