Inghilterra, primi anni Settanta. Il potente e carismatico leader del Partito Liberale, Jeremy Thorpe, nasconde un segreto che potrebbe rovinargli la carriera: l'ex modello Norman Scott dichiara di essere stato il suo amante nei primi anni Sessanta, quando l'omosessualità era illegale.
