Cinque variazioni sul tema dell’amore, cinque momenti che ricostruiscono strato dopo strato la fluida, fluttuante natura erotica di Paul attraverso la precisione lirica e a tratti cruda della sua stessa voce. Di Nanni, oggetto del desiderio, in paese nessuno sa più nulla, ma l’agonia di quella passione ormai lontana ha lasciato il segno e troverà echi nelle passioni della sua vita di adulto. Ad ogni nuovo amore Paul cadrà nelle trappole del desiderio e se ne creerà di nuove, si abbandonerà alla violenza del rimpianto per poi riprendere a inseguire il «vino della vita», a inseguire se stesso.
