After reading The Shape of a Pocket and now this, I must conclude that Berger is not for me. There's something in the mix of high-minded moralism and meek aestheticism that profoundly irritates me. I started reading this book because I was so enamoured by ‘Ways of Seeing’ by Berger. I think I will read his novel next.
