Anche Angela Burdett-Coutts, colei dalla cui prodigalità dipende l'esistenza di quel rifugio per donne cadute, è tormentata, seppur non dalla miseria. È appena stato rilasciato dalla prigione l'uomo che l'ha perseguitata per anni e che ora, nonostante il tempo tra scorso, è ancora ossessionato da lei. I mondi di Angela e delle ragazze finiranno presto per scivolare l'uno nell'altro, e tutte impareranno che per libertà e indipendenza c'è sempre un caro prezzo da pagare. Had high promise for this book but felt missed something though
Having seriously loved all Stacey Halls' other books, I was thrilled to read an ARC of The House Hold. An interesting tale set in Victorian England of a house for fallen women. Surprisingly, it took me the first half really to get into the story and even then the second half was luke warm. Overall,
