‘Che tu possa vivere in tempi interessanti’ è quanto di peggio si possa augurare a un cittadino di Mondo Disco, soprattutto al decisamente poco magico mago Scuotivento, la cui vita è stata già abbastanza ricca di emozioni pericolose. Ma quando dal remoto Continente Contrappeso giunge ad Ankh-Morpork, via albatros viaggiatore, la richiesta di un ‘Grande Maggo’, è proprio lui il prescelto. La minaccia del Caos incombe sull’imminente successione al trono dell’Impero Agateo. E, per qualche incomprensibile ragione, qualcuno crede che Scuotivento avrà un leggendario ruolo nella guerra e nel bagno di sangue indiscriminato che sicuramente seguirà.(La carneficina è pressoché scontata, dato che Cohen il Barbaro e la sua assai attempata Orda d’Argento stanno alacremente formulando il loro piano per saccheggiare, depredare e, ehm, guardare con malinconia le ragazze).Ad ogni modo, Scuotivento crede fermamente che ci siano già fin troppi eroi al mondo, ma un solo Scuotivento. E che il suo dovere verso l’umanità sia tenerlo in vita il più a lungo possibile.

Most relatable Rincewind's book so far. After living through pandemic and war I completely understand why he only wanted to sit quietly at home and avoid any "adventures". I'm going to just say right off the bat that the Rincewind novels are not my favorite. I realize that it is Discworld blasphemy, but hear me out.
