I really liked this book. I now see Hal Moore as more of a person with his own flaws and idiosyncracies, but still a great warrior and hero. I never had the privilege of meeting Lt Gen Moore but, just from reading his book, I know I would have followed him into the Ia Drang valley in November 1965, and anywhere else since. This book felt disjointed to me and didn’t really seem to have very much relevance. The main push for this book seemed to be a gimmick for fundraising.

I thoroughly enjoyed both of them, but I did find them to be significantly different reading experiences.
