Sinossi
Rimasta orfana a dieci anni, Mary Lennox viene affidata alle cure dello zio Archibald Craven, un vedovo che abita in una lussuosa residenza inglese. Le giornate trascorrono lente e noiose per Mary, costretta a stare in compagnia della severa governante mentre lo zio è in viaggio. L'unica persona che la tratta con affetto è Martha, la giovane cameriera, che le fa scoprire le bellezze della campagna. Mary viene, così, a sapere che la defunta signora Craven amava coltivare un giardino, rimasto chiuso a chiave da molto tempo e dimenticato da tutti. Mary un giorno trova casualmente la chiave per accedere al misterioso giardino e, con l'aiuto del fratello di Martha e di un vecchio giardiniere, riporta alla vita quel luogo magico e suggestivo. I cannot believe this took me so long to read. In the spirit of A Little Princess, this story recognises the characteristics we must prize most as human beings. The book follows contrary Mary Lennox as she learns a very important lesson from a very secret garden.
