Per dieci anni ha vissuto nel Santuario dei Redentori. Per dieci anni ha patito la fame e il freddo. Per dieci anni ha subito terribili punizioni e atroci torture. E, per tutto quel tempo, ha avuto un unico obiettivo: fuggire. E ci è riuscito. Eppure, dopo aver conosciuto il mondo al di fuori del Santuario - un mondo in cui l'amicizia si è rivelata una trappola e l'amore si è trasformato in una menzogna -, Cale è tornato, pronto a obbedire al proprio destino: diventare la Mano Sinistra di Dio e redimere i peccati dell'umanità. Annientandola. Investito di un potere pressoché assoluto, Cale arruola i detenuti del Purgatorio, le carceri del Santuario dove sono rinchiusi i nemici dell'Unica Vera Fede, e li invia subito in battaglia: decine, centinaia, migliaia di uomini mandati consapevolmente al massacro come monito per il resto dell'esercito. Per i Redentori, è la prova della sua risolutezza e il primo passo verso la vittoria finale. Per lui, invece, è il primo passo verso la vendetta. Sotto quella maschera di spietata ferocia, infatti, Cale nasconde una tempesta di emozioni contrastanti. Proprio lui che ha imparato a non provare benevolenza o rimorso, paura o pietà, è in realtà lacerato da sentimenti così impetuosi da sfuggire persino al controllo dei Redentori. Sentimenti che lo costringeranno a fare una scelta. Perché lui è l'Angelo della Morte. Lui è la Mano Sinistra di Dio. Ma, forse, la sua strada deve essere ancora tracciata.

If anything, it was only marginally better than the first book. In other words, still completely horrible to read. I was underwhelmed by The Left Hand of God, while I thought it had potential it was also flawed. The test was going to be whether the author built on the potential or not.
