L'estate è iniziata da poco a San Francisco e per la detective Lindsay Boxer dovrebbe essere un periodo di calma e di serenità: infatti ha appena avuto una bambina e la piccola Julie è tutto quello che desidera dal mondo. Ma il mondo ha in serbo altri piani per lei. Una donna sulla quarantina, freddata in un supermercato con tre colpi di pistola mentre sta comprando del gelato. Al dipartimento non risulta nessun omicidio, certo, perché, come spiega il professore, il suo è stato un sogno, ma è sicuro che le cose andranno come ha detto lui. Pochi giorni dopo, l'assassinio avviene davvero. E il professore ha un alibi solido e inattaccabile. E questo è solo il primo di una catena di omicidi senza logica né senso, annunciati dal professore, che gettano la città nel panico. Lindsay dovrà avvalersi di tutte le sue risorse investigative per venire a capo dell'enigma, e potrà farlo soltanto contando sulla collaborazione delle amiche del Club Omicidi...

Sigh...does anyone remember 1st To Die written only by James Patterson? It had one continuous plot, fantastic story and character development, and chapters that were more than 2 pages.
